APPROACH

So much has changed. Our values remain the same

Is it possible for our international REMONDIS Group with its 40,000+ employees to still embody the values of a family-run business? Yes, it is. We demonstrate this every day as we practise our philosophy of working fairly and honestly for the common good.

Responsibility is in our genes

Despite the size of our global network and the size of our workforce (over 40,000 employees), we continue to be what we have always been: a family-run company. We place huge importance on values such as guaranteeing transparency, treating each other fairly and conducting our business with a great sense of responsibility and in line with strict moral and ethical principles. One such principle is that we never speculate on the prices of raw materials – nor do we ever participate in fields of business that involve risks or short-term gains for our company.

Speculating on the prices of raw materials is absolutely taboo

Living our values – inside and outside the company

We expressly welcome the fact that companies are increasingly being held to account for the way they meet their responsibilities towards people, the environment and the climate. We accept our responsibilities and make it clear to our partners, customers and suppliers exactly what our values are and how we uphold them. Our stance on issues such as respect for human rights, fair competition and integrity in business dealings has been clearly summarised in our Code of Ethics

Values are not just something that must be presented to the outside world – they must also be lived inside the company. Which is why each and every person working at REMONDIS – from our apprentices through to our managing directors – is committed to following our clearly defined guidelines. They are the cornerstone of all our activities. All around the world.

The REMONDIS Group’s company guidelines

Our customers

Customers are the lifeblood of our company: their needs are at the heart of everything we do.

Quality

Our customers are satisfied when our services and products live up to their expectations. Our comprehensive quality assurance systems and our dedicated workforce ensure that we meet the most exacting requirements.

Society / Environment

As part of society, we are committed to enhancing the public good, to protecting the environment and to conserving natural resources. We do not see economics and ecology as mutually exclusive – meeting both requirements is a crucial part of the way we do business.

People

We can only provide our customers with first-rate services if we have highly motivated employees. Which is why our company offers high-quality apprenticeship courses and targeted further training courses.

Revenue

Healthy profits are vital for investment and innovation. By using capital as efficiently as possible, we are able to offer our customers high-quality products and services at attractive prices. Ongoing investment in research, development, technology and training is also key to maintaining our position long term.

Responsible conduct

We insist on a high level of personal integrity from each and every one of our employees to ensure everyone adheres to legal regulations and ethical and moral principles. Details about how they should conduct themselves are set out in our Corporate Compliance brochure.

A further clear sign of our commitment to sustainability and climate action: the measures we take to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The bar has been set high – and not just for us alone

We expect the same high standards of ecology, environmental responsibility and resource conservation from our suppliers as we expect from ourselves. We only ever work with companies that promote eco-friendly technologies and use environmentally friendly production systems themselves. It is not a coincidence that many of the companies shortlisted for the ‘German Sustainability Award’ [Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis] are among our suppliers and partners – including Siemens, Daimler, SAP, BASF and Vaillant.

What we expect from our partners and suppliers

Proof that they do not tolerate any form of child labour

A guarantee that all health & safety regulations are adhered to throughout their business

Compliance with all statutory standards regarding minimum wages, overtime and employee benefits

Due regard to the protection of the environment at all levels of their business

Investing money where it is needed the most: in the future

Sustainability also needs to be planned and budgeted for. REMONDIS' principles are unambiguous here: investing in company growth and in new technologies are more important than distributing profits among the shareholders. As a result, over 90% of the profits made remain in the company. This also means that we have the resilience to deal with the vagaries of the capital and commodity markets. This is particularly important as far as the latter is concerned. If supplies of raw materials are in danger of getting too low, then our independence allows us to counteract this situation by investing in recycling technology.

REMONDIS stands out thanks to its high levels of equity capital and its secure financial base.

Fostering inclusion for the good of all: we actively involve institutions in our procurement process that have a social or non-profitable set-up and that promote inclusion. As is the case in our own company, such institutions are following the guiding principle that each and every individual should be able to find their place in society. For people to be able to do this, however, it is vital that they have their own income as this gives them the freedom to make their own decisions.

Committed to local and regional markets

REMONDIS has a decentralised organisation which means we benefit from being close to our suppliers. This decentralised structure also means that we have very strong ties to the regions we operate in and are able to support their local economy. By the way, this is a fact that can be shown in numbers: local suppliers account for around 98% of the expenses incurred by our key business locations..
